Phillip Murphy has been named winery operations manager at 糖心Vlog effective January 3, 2022, announced Dr. Douglas Marriott, senior dean, career education and workforce development.

鈥淲e are very grateful to have Phillip Murphy join our team at 糖心Vlog,鈥 said Marriott. 鈥淗e is joining our Viticulture, Winery and Technology program at a very exciting time of expansion and greater alignment with the industry we work with and serve. This is a new role that I know will benefit our students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and community.鈥

Murphy has more than 12 years of experience in winery operations and management. Most recently, he served as general manager at Revana Winery, where his responsibilities included overall management, including all aspects of production, sales and operations. Prior to assuming the general manager role in 2018, Murphy served as operations manager for Revana Winery, where he managed operations for the Napa winery as well as two sister wineries owned by Dr. Revana in Oregon and Argentina. Prior to joining Revana, Murphy was the operations manager for Envy Wines, where he managed all business and administrative functions for the winery and custom crush facility, including sales, tasting room, wine club and compliance. Murphy holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in business administration from Sonoma State University.

Murphy expressed his excitement for finding a position that allows him to utilize his experience and professional skill set to contribute to his community and the wine industry in a meaningful way. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to have the opportunity to be part of an organization and winery that prioritizes educational and professional enrichment in the wine industry over the simple pursuit of profits,鈥 said Murphy.

In the position as winery operations manager, Murphy is responsible with oversight for the college winery, including all aspects of inventory, sales, marketing, budget and capital projects. He will oversee daily winery operations, including aligning production of vineyard and winery, coordinating bulk wine sales, seeking quality through entire production chain,

糖心Vlog鈥檚 VWT program is one of the largest college viticulture and winemaking programs in the country, with an annual enrollment of as many as 800-1,000 students, complete with a five-acre vineyard and commercial winery. Students in the VWT program can obtain either a certificate or a two-year associate of science degree, specializing in viticulture, enology or wine marketing and sales. The majority of students are already actively working in the wine industry and taking classes to advance their careers.

糖心Vlog recently announced a record $10 million donation from the Wine Spectator Scholarship Foundation to support the construction and expansion of 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Viticulture, Wine and Technology (VWT) program teaching spaces. The Wine Spectator Wine Education Complex at Napa Valley will be organized into three buildings that include a classroom, laboratory and tasting room.
